I'm so glad you stopped by my website to read my musings and check out my pictures, but you've clicked on this to learn more about me, so here goes!
My educational background: I earned my undergraduate degree in Fine Arts from Bethany College, Bethany, West Virginia (Magna Cum Laude), specializing in Art History in 1978. I also completed a post undergrad program at Cairn University (then Philadelphia Biblical University) called The Institute of Jewish Studies in 2000 (with honors) and earned my M. Div. at Alliance Theological Seminary, graduating in 2005 (Biblical Interpretation Award). I love bringing my wide knowledge of Biblical custom and culture to the study of God's Word. I have traveled to Israel to study three times and to Greece "in the footsteps of Paul" once. I served as an apprentice tour guide to Dr. Bryan Widbin while a student at Alliance, guest lecturing on the Galilee region.
Vocational background: Through the years I've held a number of interesting jobs: a tour guide in an Early American Historical Village, babysitter, house-cleaner, Assistant to the Children's Librarian in a public library, Art teacher, Sunday School teacher, retail jobs, amateur radio, and developing and teaching the Bible program at a small Christian School. I've also worked in Youth Ministry, Women's Ministry, Small Group Ministry and Discipleship training. I've been asked to speak and teach in the pulpit and at retreats. It's always a joy for me to do that! Many have enjoyed the personal touch I bring to my lessons from my travel experiences, study tours, art background and photos of the places mentioned in the Bible. But my favorite job of all is being "Mrs." to my "Mr.", "Mom" to my two sons, and now "Grammy" to their children.
Other Assorted Facts you might like to know: I LOVE Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream. My friend Vikki spoils me with Godiva chocolate when we get together. I have two younger sisters and we still like each other! I am not good about exercising but do like to take walks along the nature trail near our home as long as I can bring my camera! I enjoy people and am equally comfortable being alone. I serve on the Executive Committee for our local camera club, heading up and planning photo-shoot opportunities for the membership. I have had several pictures on display in local shows and participate in the 365 Project (365project.org) an on-line photographic community as well. I do like to travel (although I don't get to do it enough!), watching the birds at my bird feeder and the other assorted wildlife that meanders through my backyard every now and then, reading books on photography and the world around me as well as collecting photos from my family history. We have no pets, unless you count the squirrel I trained to come to the back door to ask for peanuts.
